Summer stretchers on the bus

Read slowly. Comprehend the repetition in prose.

I figured it out instantly. Two busees, sitting together and alone, definitely younger than anybody else, and the first day of stretch being today. Not summer challenge, that starts later. Summer stretch.

Two busees, definitely younger than anybody else. Boy and girl. The boy wasn't sitting still, moving around in his seat and talking to himself, it seems.

Definitely younger. I asked. "Are you in summer stretch?" Unusually immediate reply: "Yea."

Sitting together and alone. Boy and girl. The girl was more shy, listening to music on her iPhone. I didn't talk to her much. Too awkward.

Boy and girl. Not alone. Their mother, maybe, was in the seat in front. I saw them again, all three, on the ride back. Same bus back. Monday. Two busees. Sitting together and alone. Definitely younger.
